Chicken Soup For The Soul

In my previous post I had mentioned about this book. In this post I will write about some of the stories that really inspired me and many of the readers, and that’s the reason this book had been #1 in the New York Times Best Seller.

Expressing Love

In this busy life sometime we do not have time to express our love or emotions to our family members, and don’t say words like “I love you”, or “I really care about you”. I found a nice quotation in that book that “If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?”. This is a quotation by Stephen Levine.

This is extremely important because nobody knows when that last moment will come, and whether you will have that person whom you really love and care will also be with you at that last moment. If you have a large family and your children are in different cities, or states or even countries, then it becomes really difficult to have all of them to be with you.

You may also love in different ways your siblings and they may also be living in different cities or countries. So, it is better to express your love to each of them as many times and as frequently as possible to say “I really love and care for you, your welfare and happiness”.

Live Your Dream

There are a number of stories that shows how one person’s desire to make a change in other person’s lives can have a lasting impact on them, and provide them hope for a better future, desire and motivation to live, struggle, work hard to succeed and make this world a better place for humans and other living creatures created by God with a purpose. Learn to ask the right person at the right time to help others. Asking something only for yourself may make it a selfish venture, but when you ask for other it will indirectly involve you. For example if you are asking for help to go to college, you can day after getting a degree I will be able to teach others to achieve their dreams, you are more likely to get help, and when you get a job in any educational institution you have provided a source of income for yourself and your family and you never state that in your initial request.

Make the best of what you have, compare yourself with others who do not have the blessings that you have and you will always be content and happy. Life has ups and downs. There are somethings in this world that you have no control and can never change, and there are somethings that are under your control and only you can change it. Ask God to give you the ability to see the world with that perspective. This will make every passing day a success and worth living.
